Hi there, what’s up?
I know it’s a bit late, but happy New Year and merry Christmas! I hope you all had a wonderful winter break and have come back to school feeling fresh. I personally had a very exciting vacation; my family were in town and we drove for 2500 miles across the west coast, from Anaheim to Las Vegas, Grand Canyon, Flagstaff, Phoenix, San Diego, San Francisco, Eugene, Portland and then back to Seattle just in time to watch the fireworks at the Space Needle.
So now that it’s 2013 already, how do you guys feel? I felt that 2012 was an extremely wonderful year; I mean, 2012 was meant to be ‘the end of the world’ and we’re still alive! We have defeated fate! Anyway, tons of wonderful things happened in 2012 and I felt it was about time we recap 2012. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you, a summary of 2012!

JUNE 24th: This day was one to mourn as Lonesome George, the last ever Pinta Island Tortoise dies at the Galapagos National Park. With that, the subspecies was believed to become extinct. However, less than a year later, scientists say that he might not be as lonesome as we thought he was. Read more about it right here.
JULY 4th: The Higgs boson is finally discovered! CERN announced their discovery of a new particle (the smallest particle to ever exist, to be exact) after numerous experiments with the Large Hadron Collider. In case you still don’t understand what exactly the Higgs boson is, probably because I myself don’t fully understand, you can read more about it right here.
JULY 25th: The 2012 summer Olympics begin! Sadly, on AUG 1st, 8 women badminton double players were disqualified from the 2012 summer Olympics. They were purposely trying to lose the match, and were thus disqualified for “not using one’s best efforts to win a match.” To see a more detailed summary of the Olympics along with all the scores, click this link right here.
